From sun, sea and the beach, Cyprus was definitely one of the places that I would recommend for a little summer getaway. From a cheeky car road trip to day tours and the beautiful scenery, it is definitely a bucket list holiday destination.

Staying in Paphos was a lot more chilled than expected even though we went during July period. It was pretty quiet with a lot of couples, but the grandma inside me enjoyed it. We stayed at the Ascos Beach Hotel in Paphos, a 4 star rated hotel. The hotel pool was really nice and views were gorgeous. It also led us towards a little secluded beach as you can see in the photo above. The main downsides were the food options, the veggie options were pretty poor. Also, there was a lack of hotel entertainment, but in all respects, we didn't stay in hotel much so didn't care for it. If you are thinking of staying in the hotel for the duration of your trip, then bear this in mind. Regardless, the hotel room was nice, and bed was massive, as it managed to fit 4 girls in it (say what?), it would still be a hotel that I would recommend if you are not looking to stay within the hotel the entire trip.

Our nearest beach was the famous Coral Bay beach. With the opportunities of some fun water sports, it was definitely enjoyable. The beach itself is nice, nothing special in my opinion.

What we did:

We did a day tour and explored the Blue Lagoon Latchi as well as the Adonis Baths and Waterfalls which absolutely amazing. With a safari jeep driving high up into the (mountains/cliffs?) to the hidden lagoon, it was such an incredible but bumpy experience. The crystal clear blue waters honestly does make you reflect on the beauty of mother nature. And being with the best group of people makes it all the more fantastic. As part of this tour, we also had a little trip to the northern part of Cyprus where we saw how the traditional Cypriots lived which was an interesting cultural experience.

Adonis Baths and Waterfalls

Another immensely fun day was out full day at Fassouri Watermania Water Park in Limasool. Such a fun waterpark, with a lot of cool water tube slides. The inner child in us loved every minute of it. We book this as an excursion with both transport to and from hotel included which costs about 36 Euros in total. Well worth it, and a great one for both adults and children. Dare I say we had a bit too much fun in the kids adventure pool area (#kidsatheart).

The highlight of our vacay was probably the road trip to Aiya Napa. Not even Aiya Napa itself but the drive there and back. That was my first proper time hiring out a car abroad so I was nervous about driving there but it was fine. Luckily Cyprus drive the same as the UK so it was bliss. In our little red Ford Fiesta, we set on our day trip to Napa. Yes, the first thing you think of when you think of Napa is the party party, but no, that wasn't really our scene. We just did a bit of exploring around the beach, had lunch and chilled by the port for some good ol' shisha (yes, you will find out in due time one is a little shisha addict), then enjoyed some more shisha and mocktails at the outdoor shisha clubs in the evening. Aiya Napa was very beautiful I must admit, definitely a must to see if you do go Cyprus.

We booked all the excursions when we arrived in Paphos, at one of the excursion agents near our hotel. As we got a few from them,, we did get a good deal. I don't think there is any need to book these kind of activities in advance online.

This was definitely a great trip making some funny memories with some of life's best people.

Key highlights to explore:

  • Excursion tours to Blue Lagoon Latchi and Adonis Baths and Waterfalls.

  • Waterpark in Limasool - better than the waterpark in Paphos.

  • Car hire - not very expensive, especially when split between people.

  • Aiya Napa - by the port is really nice, and the outdoor shisha clubs are good for night time entertainment (or if you want to go for good night time vibes, the strip is a good place for that).

Good destination for friends and couples.

Have you been to Cypus? Are there any there holiday destinations you would recommend?
